Escape from Tarkov 1.0 best settings for performance/clarity

ree

If you want me to personally do a full PC optimization (PC check, Windows debloating, bios tuning, overclock and game configuration) to maximize your performance schedule an appointment here or email me at gepcperformance@gmail.com This guide is meant for people who don't like to read (you know who you are) and just wish to have best performance/clarity in EFT. A more extensive guide will follow and I will update this guide as the developers update the game. This guide will give best performance/latency/clarity on most configurations. The color filter for EFT is an extra step if you want to try an ICC profile meant to make the game brighter.

Feel free to use the POSTFX in the game settings, just know they can hinder performance depending on what you enable. I don't use them personally.

You can simply copy every settings from the images if you don't want to read de details =/

GAME OPTIONS

FOV to your liking but HIGHER FOV = MORE FPS. Also note, when using the Automatic RAM Cleaner, pressing escape while in raid will freeze it for a second because it will call the ram cleaner (will keep your game less RAM hungry during extensive sessions without restarting the game). Still recommended to restart the game from time to time.

NVIDIA SETTINGS

Use your native monitor resolution. Aspect ratio to your liking. Highlighted in red are the most important options that will greatly impact FPS. Texture quality can be set to high if you have 12GB+ GPU, Streets of Tarkov can still cause problems in high resolutions if not on Medium textures. Overall visibility can be set to 1500+ and will only slightly impact performance if you have a recent GPU.

NVIDIA DLSS is bugged right now, does not help with FPS (even reduce FPS sometimes). It also increases latency and also make scopes blurry (will get fixed soon hopefully).

Turn ON "Streets of Tarkov Lower Texture Resolution Mode" if you want to use High or Ultra texture quality on other maps. Otherwise using Medium everywhere should be fine for almost all configs.

Now since we are not using DLSS until it gets fixed, we will use a special sharpening option in the Nvidia Control Panel named "Image Sharpening". To enable it, just download this .reg file and execute it. The file should be named "Enable NVIDIA Sharpening.reg". Make sure it is the right extension -> .reg

Download the file with the download button on the right side

Now let's head into the Nvidia Control Panel and go to "Manage 3D settings" then select "Program Settings". Add "Escape From Tarkov.exe" in the "Select a program to customize:" . The game installation path can be found in the launcher if you can't find it in the list provided.

If you made changes previously, revert them by clicking on "Restore".

Executing the .reg file should add the "Image Sharpening" option. If it does not show up, close the Nvidia Control Panel and reopen it.

You can play with the Image Sharpening values as you please. On 1080p I would avoid going above 0.75 in the Sharpen option and 0.25 in igore film grain. You should notice the difference straight away, even in the stash menu.

Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias should be set to "Allow" if you use DLSS in the future*

Also, you can change the color vibrance for your monitor. Tarkov will look way more colorful. Try it out and see if you like it.

Some people will even set this to 100%, adjust to your taste.

You can use AMD FSR 3.0 if your GPU usage is high (higher resolutions will have higher GPU usage), I would only use the Quality preset to avoid too much blurriness. I would only use FSR if it actually improves your framerate.

For now here are the settings in the Adrenaline Panel for Escape From Tarkov I would recommend.

Use the Radeon Image Sharpening instead of the in game sharpening

You can set this to whatever you please but I would not set this too high if you are playing in 1080p

Set Texture "Filtering Quality" to "Performance"

You can change the colors for your game here with no impact on performance instead of using the POSTFX in game.

If you want to tweak the colors for your game you can either use the Custom Color or the Display Color Enhancement presets like the "Vivid Gaming" preset.

COLOR FILTER (extra step to try if you find the game too dark)

You can use the Windows Color Management panel to add color profiles for your monitor. Here is a filter you can try which will make the game brighter (results will vary, try it out and see if you like it). Just know this filter is applied to your monitor so it will affect everything that is shown on your monitor, you can switch between profiles through the Color Management panel. This will not work if you are currently using HDR on your monitor or the Night Light option for your monitor. You can download the color profile here. The file should be a .icm file named "EFT_COLOR_PROFILE(BRIGHT).icm"

To apply it, open the Color Management panel and follow these steps:

Search for "Color Management" in the Windows search bar then open it.

Go in "Advanced", then "Change system defaults..."
Go in "Advanced", then "Change system defaults..."
In the next panel, go in "Advanced" again, then tick "Use Windows display calibration"
